1. Ensure your presence, or that of a trusted individual.

Make sure a responsible adult is there all day, even if you are unable to due to an emergency (or days). Someone you trust could be speaking with the movers, contractors, signing some paperwork, organizing etc.
2. Ensure that the path from the home to the vehicle is free of obstructions.
You must establish a path that is broad enough to permit safe passage for your household furniture and other objects for the safety of everyone involved—you, the movers, and your valuables. Make sure to take out all items that might trip someone up inside and outside of your home, such as toys, clothing, tools, bags of trash, etc.
3. With your movers, perform a first and final walkthrough.
You should walk the movers around your home at the beginning of the day, pointing out anything of particular value, anything delicate, and anything that won't be carried into the moving truck. Ensure that your instructions are understood and retained by your movers.

5. Ensure that you and the corporate driver have the same understanding.
You still want your belongings to arrive at your new house on schedule and undamaged after they have been packed and put into the moving truck. In light of this, it's always a smart move to provide your contact information with the driver of the moving business. Make sure the delivery schedule is something you and the driver agree on.
