Moving is most difficult during the summer, and we don't simply mean because of the heat. Summer is the most popular season for families to relocate because of the end of the school year and the good weather, but it also presents a special set of difficulties. Knowing the do's and don'ts of summer moving is crucial given the scorching weather and strong demand.
Will you be relocating this summer? If so, it's time to start making plans.
Summer Moving Do's
Book As Far Ahead as Possible
Pack Slow or Hire Packers
Stay Hydrated
Wear Sunscreen and a Wide-Brimmed Hat
Ask Plenty of Questions
Advance reservations
Moving is quite busy throughout the summer. Even weekdays may get full up, and weekends are frequently reserved months in advance of the main moving season. If you want to engage with a reputable local mover, inform them of your relocation plans and anticipated move-out date as early as feasible. By doing this, your chances of getting moving dates that fit into your calendar are greatly increased.
Stack and pack slow
Take your time when packing. While loading boxes, give yourself plenty of time and avoid getting too hot. Don't attempt to complete two-person tasks by yourself; if required, ask for assistance with heavy box stacking and furniture disassembly. Summer is a season when people tend to move quickly, but moving too quickly is not worth being hurt.
Keep hydrated.
Always remember to stay hydrated, especially when loading or unloading the vehicle on the day of the move. Keep water nearby, and fill it up frequently. In the heat, it's helpful to provide your hired movers some clean, refreshing water. A cooler or a collection of bottles in the refrigerator is beneficial for you, your family, and the movers equally. Movers typically carry their own water.
Shade from the sun
If you will be watching the truck loading in direct sunlight, wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. When you can, stay in the shade to prevent overexposure. Please wear your sunscreen because people sometimes don't realize how much sun they're getting when engaged in moving day activities.
Pose inquiries and make plans
Don't forget to inquire frequently. Inquire about the bottom-to-top and back-to-front packing of the vehicle. Inquire about the route and the logistics of meeting the truck when it arrives at your destination. Ask about packing furniture, packaging your delicate goods, and any other concerns you may have. A good client is one who is well-informed.
